About the Establishment

GESMAAP: the General Establishment for Storing and Marketing Agricultural and Animal Products was set up pursuant to Order 534 of 2000. It is a public sector Establishment, with branches in all Syrian Governorates handling the following tasks:

Marketing agricultural products internally and externally.
Storing in both forms, cooled and regular, for the benefit of the Establishment and others.
Transport in both forms, refrigerated and regular cases for the benefit of the Establishment and others.

The Establishment marketing policy focuses on wholesale commerce, as stipulated in its foundation decree, using existing wholesale markets of different Governorates, especially within the central markets, taking into account that the number of these centers amounts to \60\ centers. The marketed products by the producers are displayed and sold, with small commissions compared to the proportion obtained by the private sector.

Wishing to deliver high quality goods to the final consumer, the Establishment management set up more than \100\ retail sale halls in various cities and Governorates. It is also taking necessary procedures to increase the number of these halls because of the citizens' trust in the public sector and the result of offering services by the best means.
Because of the good quality and specifications of Syrian products, the Establishment has opened a special center to export these products to different Arab and foreign countries, using the best means in sorting, packaging and arranging.
There are procedures taken by the Establishments management to set up marketing centers in many countries abroad, where the Establishment is able to export its surplus and introduce the foreign consumer more to the quality and standards of the Syrian product.
The Establishment owns a factory for manufacturing net bags made of nutritious polyethylene, following Syrian specifications and standards, and in different sizes for packing (citruses- onions- garlic- potatoes and others).

These animals are left in the pounds for period of time, where animals are put under technical and health examinations and are prepared for slaughtering in the Establishments technical slaughterhouse, where animals are slaughtered according to the Islamic Shari'a.
They are later subjected to many veterinarian examinations before being stored in refrigerators or carried into the Establishments refrigerating cars after that they are taken to the markets or the arrangement centers, where the meat cutting, boning and mincing operations are done in certain weights according to the consumers wishes, then are packed in the nutritious poly ethylene bags, where air is taken out and sealed using the newest machines and then distributed to the retail sale windows or to other wholesale places.
